Jubail Refinery Module Setting
Setting critical heavy refinery modules at 75m height under strict safety clearances.
May 2026 Jubail

Project Overview
BM Cranes was awarded the contract to lift and set five heavy refinery modules at a major petrochemical expansion project in Jubail. The modules weighed up to 620 metric tonnes each and had to be installed inside an operating refinery block.
Key Challenges
01
Extremely tight lifting footprint surrounded by live pipe racks.
02
High wind risks at setting heights above 75 meters.
03
Tight schedule windows with strict Aramco safety permits.
Execution & Methodology
- Conducted 3D lift simulations and soil compaction analysis.
- Assembled a 1,600-tonne crawler crane with a Superlift configuration.
- Implemented tandem lift plans for tailing operations using a 750-tonne crane.
Results & Achievements
- All modules set within a 0.5mm precision tolerance.
- Project completed 3 days ahead of schedule.
- Recorded 28,000 safe man-hours with zero Lost Time Incidents (LTI).
